How to Easily Get and Play Custom Maps in Meccha Chameleon
Open MAPS from the main menu, browse Steam Workshop maps, subscribe to the ones you want, restart if downloads do not appear, then create a server and choose the custom map from Configure Map.
Recommended path
- 01From the Meccha Chameleon main menu, use the MAPS button to open Steam Workshop.
- 02Browse custom maps by Most Popular, Most Subscribed, Last Updated, or New.
- 03Open a map page, review its screenshots and description, then press Subscribe.
- 04Return to the game, open Create Server, and use Configure Map to choose the subscribed map.
- 05Start the room after adjusting the other settings, then let the countdown load the custom map.
Step 1: Open Workshop from the main menu
From the Meccha Chameleon main menu, look for the MAPS button in the lower-right area of the screen. Selecting it opens the Steam Workshop map page from inside the game, which is the safest path for browsing community maps.
- Use the in-game MAPS entry instead of random mirror pages.
- Keep the Steam client open so Workshop subscriptions can attach to your account.
- If a Workshop page opens externally, continue through Steam rather than downloading loose files.
Step 2: Browse and subscribe to custom maps
Steam Workshop lets you browse maps by popularity, subscriptions, update date, and new uploads. Open any map that looks interesting, inspect its screenshots, read the description and notes, then press the green Subscribe button.
- Use Most Popular when you want maps that many players are already trying.
- Use Most Subscribed when you want stronger community adoption signals.
- Use Last Updated when you want maps that are more likely to match the current game version.
- Subscribe to several maps if you want a small rotation for friends.
- Restart Meccha Chameleon once if subscribed maps do not appear immediately.
Step 3: Load a custom map in your server
After subscribing, return to the main menu and choose Create Server. Open Configure Map while setting up the room. Your subscribed Workshop maps should appear beside the default map choices.
- Pick the custom map before starting the room.
- Adjust Hunter count, wait time, and game mode before launch.
- Make sure friends know which custom map is being used so they can subscribe too if needed.
Step 4: Play the new map
Once the countdown finishes, the room loads into the selected custom map. Community maps can change the rhythm of hiding and hunting because layouts, props, lighting, and scale differ from the default maps.
- The Simpsons house and other recognizable custom locations can make rounds feel fresh.
- Large maps may take longer to load, especially for players with slower storage or weaker PCs.
- Treat each new map as a new puzzle instead of reusing the same hiding route every time.
Bonus tips
Custom maps are easiest to manage when you keep your subscriptions clean and use Steam Workshop as the single source of truth.
- To remove a map, return to the Workshop page and press Unsubscribe.
- Restart the game after subscribing to many maps if downloads appear delayed.
- Check Workshop regularly because community maps can be updated or replaced quickly.
- Avoid loose map downloads, unknown archives, or executable installers that are not part of the Steam Workshop flow.
